Conversion of Timber
*Defination
The process of conversing a timber into different shape and size as per requeirared is called conversion of timber. Normaly conversion of timbe is done after removal of sap by seasoning.
*Purpose of timber conversion
1)To use the timber into different engineering structure
2)To get requried objed or furniture.
3)To execute our work..
4)To use timber into specifed work
*Method of conversion of timber
1)Flat cawing (Through method)
2)Tangential sawing
3)Quater sawing
1) Flat sawing:-
i) In this method number of parellal
cuts are made longituadnally.
ii)It is the most Common method for furniture and temporary structure purpose
iii) It is an economical method.
2) Tangential Sawing
i)In this method cuts are made tangential to the annual ring.
ii)Width of a board should kept langential to the annual rings.
iii). In this method wastage is maximum.
3)Quarter Sawing.
i)Firstly log is sawn into four equal parts.
iii)Quater parts are sawn in such a way that the width of sawn board lies along the medulary rays.
iii) This method produce reasonable wastage.
